Telecheck is a consumer check verification company that processes check data and informs the retailer if they should accept or decline a check that is being presented by the consumer. They are the dominant check verification company for retailers in the USA. They are not the same as Certegy, who is in fact the second largest check verification company, and has completely different processes. The following guide only applies to Telecheck.

Telecheck does not actually verify that a checking account, or that the checks actually clear after being approved by them. Telecheck simply checks their internal database to see if there are any "bad checks" presented to them against an account. If it has no records for an account, a new profile needs to be created by a Telecheck customer service representative; if they have a profile already created for the account, they check to see if they have any records of a check being returned (due to NSF, check fraud, etc).

All you need to do is call and verify checks over an extended period of time for smaller purchases ($20-$40) to build a consumer profile with a positive transaction history. By calling Telecheck and gradually authorizing larger check amounts you will build up a quality profile that can then be used for large purchases at a store / casino (eg. purchasing a laptop, casino cash advance/withdrawal, etc).

Since they do not verify the account exists, any valid routing number followed by a made up account number can be used to establish a new profile within their system. Since you are not actually providing a check to a merchant to be processed, it will never hit a bank and be determined to be a "bad check" due to the account not existing. We are simulating the process, and as far as Telelcheck is concerned the merchant is receiving the check, processing it, and never notified Telecheck that it was a bad check.

Because of this, Telecheck concludes that the check must have been processed successfully, and the merchant received the authorized funds without complaint… Beautiful!

The reality of the situation is no one ever received a check, and it never got processed outside of Telecheck's system, so it can't be determined that it is a bad account until we actually write a check and provide it to a retailer in real-life. Once we actually use the account in real-life (not over the phone through this automated system), the transaction will effectively start a 3 day timer; after 3 days the check will most likely have been reported back to Telecheck as NSF / account closed / fraudulent, and the profile will be burned.

When taking this approach, you must keep track of both the account number, as well as, the check numbers that have been verified to ensure the account does not get flagged while establishing the account history. Additionally, we must be careful not to process too many checks too quick; ideally, 1-2 "Code 3" checks per week, per account for 3-4 weeks. Depending on the check amounts, this should be sufficient enough history to have a fairly large purchase (i.e. $1,500-$2,000) approved in-store after 3-4 weeks.

Re-Cap - The Process:

  1. Find a viable checking account to use (to write checks on, receive cash advance from Casino, or whatever)
  2. Find a viable Fullz to use for check writing (Requires DL # (and SSN for Casinos))
  1. Call Telecheck as a "Merchant" to verify a check
    1. Follow automated system to verify a check
      1. Keep the check amount between $20-$40 initially
    2. Keep track of the Checking Account #, Check #, DL #, the amount verified, and the Response Code
      1. Code 3 - Good to Go (this is what we want)
      2. Code 2 - Bad Fullz / Checking Account
      3. Code 4 - Returned check / debt associated with account or check writer
  2. After the merchant calls to verify a check for the first time, we should get denied and have to call in as the customer to create a profile
  3. Call Telecheck's consumer line to find out why the check was denied; they will say that there is insufficient information to approve the check at this time. Tell them that you would like to create a profile in their system to avoid this in the future
  4. As the merchant, call back to verify the same check now that the consumer profile has been created
    1. Most likely, the customer service rep will inform you that you need to wait at least a week for the information to get "into the system"
    2. Wait a week
  5. Repeat steps 1-3, and you should now receive a Code 3. Excellent
  6. Wait 2-3 days, and repeat the process again
    1. Do this for 3-4 weeks
    2. Increase the frequency of "checks written" as time goes on
    3. If you want to write checks for high-dollar amounts ($1,500+), verify 8-10 checks before writing a check in a real store
    4. Due to the check velocity (frequency of checks written and verified), you should be able to write 1-2 check(s) per day for 3 consecutive days before the account is burnt.

On a side note, you need to keep track of the DL # being used when verifying each transaction. We need to make sure that the account does not get flagged from having too many check writers on the account, so we want to use the same DL #'s each time we call in to verify a new check. In theory, you can have two DL's verifying checks per account, but ideally you should keep it to just one.

  2. (800) 733-3400 : 40005588
